TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE
11 years ago I self-surrendered to Alderson Federal Prison.  My 2 oldest
grandchilden were 4 and 7- today, they are 15 and 18!  Some days it
doesn't seem like I have been away from my family for those many years,
until I think about the babies I left behind, compared to the fine adults
they are now.  Ricky and Daya has a part of my character that is resilient.
Where did all the years go?

FIRST DAY OF FAST
Today began the Rammadan Fast for Muslims throughout the Bureau
of Prisons, as well as at home.  What is different about this year is I am
the food preparer, and it is a service that I am glad to provide.
This is also a time of spiritual growth for me because I pray and fast
with the ladies.
We miss so many things about home, but this is one thing that is shared,
no matter what your address is.

SEPARATION
When an inmate leaves that you have been jailing with for atleast a
decade, you are very happy for them, but at the same time, their
departure has a residual effect on a lot of levels.  Doing time is already
difficult, then to add to missing your family, you have a large separation
issue from your prison family member which is not recognized by the
feds.  Annoying....

A WEEK OF RELEASES
When you are doing time, its always good to see people going home,
but especially old timers.  I watched 2 leave this week- Ms. Gwen, at 73
years old, after serving 9 years on a white collar crime, and then today,
Tammy left after giving them 12 years on a small drug offense.  Tammy's
children are adults now, and Ms. Gwen was scared that she would die in
here.  Keep praying for us- this system is shifting for the better.

 OLD FRIENDS
You know you are still in God's favor when people from your past show up
with exactly what you need at that moment.  Its called syncronicity.
You have to treat people right and stay positive- even while in a prison cell,
so that you don't block your blessings.

HISTORY MADE AT DOJ
After five months, yesterday a conniving Congress confirmed the first black
female U.S. Attorney General, Loretta Lynch.  They attached her confirmation to
a barter to pass their stipulations of a trafficking bill, but she is on board finally.
Voters have to look at the senators that they are putting into office.  Senator
Ted Cruz and Senator Jeff Sessions fought against her nomination because of
her support on President Osama's's immigration bill.  Ted Cruz is running for
President.  Believe it or not, the public DOES have a voice when you put these
anti-immigration and anti-prison reform senators in place.  Its time to pay
attention, so that you or your loved one DOESN'T end up in a jail cell like me.
